Kingston SSDNow V+ Series 128GB SNVP325-S2B/128GB
The SNVP325-S2B/128GB is a second generation V+ Series product incorporating a Toshiba controller with TRIM support. It is a worthy upgrade over the V Series.

Introduction

We here at HardwareLogic and ASE Labs are no strangers to Kingston SSDs. »Both sites »have reviewed the SSDNow V Series 128GB drive and found it to be a good value. Kingston makes a higher end model called the V+ Series which offers a similar size selection. The V+ Series has just gone under a generational upgrade to a new controller and the specs are better than the older first generation model. The SNVP325-S2B/128GB is a better class of drive than the lower performing V Series counterpart. Unlike the 40GB boot drive that Kingston puts out, this can easily be used as your main drive with the amount of space available on it. Let's see how this product performs.

Packaging

box.jpg

Kingston usually has some nice retail packaging with the Kingston head on the box. The product packaging is descriptive enough and provides a nice look for on the shelf viewing. Remember that retail is all about catching the consumer eye. Specifications and other information are located on the back side of the box.

Upon opening the product box, you are greeted with a nice plastic covering (with the Kingston head) protecting the parts that come with the kit. We always like to see how products are presented when opening for the first time and Kingston gets this right. The first visible thing is the software CD. This is a kit and can be used to transfer all the data from your current drive to this new one.
