Introduction

Cases are something that are frequently neglected for people who build their own PCs. When doing it for the first time, most tend to go with the cheapest things they can get that looks good. This can lead to performance problems. Typical cheap cases have problems arising from the poor air circulation of lower-quality cases giving them a bad name among enthusiasts. In order to combat this stigma, Themaltake has introduced the V3 line. They are hoping to create a mid-range PC case that has most of the functionality and performance of the higher models of the Thermaltake range.

Packaging

The box for the Thermaltake V3 Black Edition is about as straightforward as you can get. It has a nice picture of the case when it is lit up, but is otherwise pretty standard from the front.
One thing to note is that the box was rather beat up from shipping. More on that in a second.

Packaging Front

The side of the box shows a helpful little graphic showing off the case within the box with a sticker telling which one is which. This is the VL80001W2Z model, but the only difference between the two seems to be that the model of this review has a vent and a small window. The VL80001W2Z has a single, larger, vent instead.

Packaging Side

The rear of the packaging, contrary to the front, is loaded with information about the design of the case. It shows of a nice representation of how the case ventilation is supposed to be set up as well as several multi-angle photos of the case. It is a really nice touch, and one that goes above and beyond the typical packaging treatment.
