Thermaltake Frio CLP0564
Users looking for a versatile cooler should consider the Thermaltake Frio. It performs admirably and offers the option to run the fans at near silent levels while maintaining its cooling prowess making it an easy recommendation.

Conclusion

The Frio easily lives up to its name by keeping our system's i7 860 downright chilly throughout all of our testing. At stock speeds, it handily matches the competition while being absolutely silent. When we overclock our processor, we see the Frio really shine. It bested the H50 by as much as 20C. Offering this level of performance, it's not hard to see why Thermaltake has been a top tier name in cooling for the past 10 years.

Even though it has the looks, styling, and performance to match, it still leaves the proverbial tooth paste lid on the bathroom sink. While the issue with the fan controller is a minor one, its one that didn't need to happen. This is especially true for a $60 (Newegg Link, Amazon Link) cooler aimed at the high end of the market. Hopefully this was an isolated case. Is this enough to change our recommendation? Absolutely not!

If you are in the market for an aftermarket heat sink, you can't go wrong with taking a look at the Frio. It's is a great cooler offering fantastic performance at a pretty good price.
